RAIN FEST

"We used to be puss-weeds, but now we're metal!" —Evil Robot Bill, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey

If you're not braving the Gorge's heat and hordes, there is always Memorial Day weekend's other local music festival, this metal/hardcore suffixed extravaganza, now in its fifth year. If you're one of the lucky hardcore folks who snatched up tickets back at the start of the year, you get to catch sets by the likes of Black Breath, Walls, Owen Hart, and Shook Ones. Neumos, Fri 5 pm/Sat–Sun 1 pm, sold out. (See also interview.)

FRIDAY 5/27

I WAS DRESSED FOR SUCK: A TEETH SHOW

Brian Standeford is a prolific local poster artist, having produced striking designs for bands such as Truckasauras, Thee Oh Sees, Grave Babies, and his own band, Idle Times. His pals in the TEETH art collective are Daniel Mitchell (who's done artwork for Ben Trogdon's absolutely crucial Olympia newsprint zine NUTS, which you can order through the K Records site and elsewhere) and Darin Schuler (who makes vibrant, hallucinatory illustrations that seem like the psychic residuum of a punk rock mind-meld between Jacob Ciocci and Justin Longoz—it makes total sense that he's a fan of Tadanori Yokoo). For TEETH's first-ever art opening—featuring T-shirts, posters, mixtapes, and more—the wife-and-hubby team of Ashley Eriksson and Eli Moore from beloved K band LAKE will perform. Cairo, 7 pm, $5.
