This high-end Filipino restaurant from chef Aaron Verzosa (formerly of Modernist Cuisine and Harvest Vine) and his wife Amber Manuguid, which will open in the former space of Eyman’s Pizza on December 1, focuses on a Pacific Northwest approach to Filipino cooking, using local and seasonal ingredients, and offers a 10-12 course tasting menu, with two seatings per night. This new Thai restaurant from owners Jansri Parichat and Pranesh Sharma (bar manager at Jai Thai), which recently opened in the former space of Olive Tree and had its first Yelp review on November 25, features Thai-style tapas, cocktails, and comedy.

Nana's Green Tea
The popular Japanese chain Nana's Green Tea, which specializes in high-quality matcha drinks and desserts and sources its tea from its own plantations, opened its first location in the continental U.S. in the Denny Triangle on Thursday, November 29. The menu includes items like a matcha warabi mochi parfait with matcha pudding, red bean paste, and chiffon cake.

This Taiwanese chain, which had its grand opening on November 21, specializes in drinks made with brewed tea and blended seasonal fruit.

Sharetea
The First Hill location of this tea shop chain, which softly opened on November 25 and will have its grand opening on December 1, serves bubble tea as well as Taiwanese desserts like "TorDa," a tea dessert filled with boba or red bean. For the grand opening, they're offering a buy one get one free deal.

From the team who brought you the beloved Twilight Exit, this dive bar, which recently opened in the former space of Union Bar in Hillman City and had its first Yelp review on November 13, has the same menu of burgers and a decent whiskey selection.

CLOSURES
Walter's
After nearly 30 years of business, this longtime Sunset Hill cafe/ice cream shop shut its doors on Friday, November 23, due to being given notice to vacate the building by property owner Gibraltar Investment Property Solutions earlier this summer. According to MyBallard, owner Walter Pawelko currently has no plans to relocate.

By the Pound deli evicted after not paying rent
Capitol Hill deli/speakeasy By the Pound, which announced it was closing temporarily earlier this fall, has unexpectedly been evicted from its premises due to owing over $75,000 in unpaid rent, plus additional charges.

Texians BBQ coming to University District
A new barbecue restaurant called Texians BBQ serving brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and other smoked meats, as well as sides like mac and cheese and collard greens, is set to open soon in the University District. Guests will also have the option to order the meats in a burrito.

Dandylion opening a bar
The tapas bar Dandylion in lower Queen Anne is planning to open a speakeasy-style bar called the Den in its backroom on January 1 (it was originally set to open sooner, but has been delayed).

Chef Aaron Willis leaves Ciudad
Chef Aaron Willis announced via Instagram that he has departed Ciudad, the Georgetown restaurant where he replaced chef Nick Coffey. In the announcement, he explained it was time for him to move on, but did not reveal future plans or the reason for the move.

Dough Zone planning expansion
The wildly popular dumpling restaurant chain Dough Zone, which specializes in xiao long bao, told Eater Seattle that they are looking to expand their chain and that their goal is to open 15 restaurants in Washington State in the next five years.

together+seattle raises money for NWIRP
According to a press release, the recent chefs+togetherSEATTLE fundraiser, which included over 150 participating Seattle restaurants who donated 10% or more of their proceeds for the day to the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, raised $57,230. The event was the first for +togetherSEATTLE, a new organization founded this year by a group of restaurant industry friends, and a family-friendly event is in the works for May 2019.

Edouardo Jordan prepares to open new restaurant
Chef Edouardo Jordan, who has received accolades and national attention for his Ravenna restaurants JuneBaby and Salare and took home James Beard Awards for both in 2018, is preparing to open Lucinda Grain Bar, his highly anticipated restaurant focused on heritage grains, on December 8.

Cherry Bombe Issue #12 Celebration

No Cookbooks Allowed is a pop-up dinner series focused on family recipes passed on through oral tradition alone. At this event, Bar del Corso chef Melissa Miranda of the Northwest-inspired Filipino pop-up Musang will serve a traditional "kamayan" dinner—a communal meal eaten without utensils—inspired by dishes made by her mother Marlene Miranda.

Vermouth Dinner at Barnacle
Need an antidote to increasingly blustery autumn days? How about quaffing some fortified wine along with a four-course dinner at Barnacle, Renee Erickson’s adorable little “jewel box” aperitivo bar tucked away next door to the Walrus and the Carpenter? Sea Creatures executive chef Bobby Palmquist and Walrus and the Carpenter head chef BJ Bresnik will design a seasonal menu accompanied by vermouth cocktails from the Barnacle crew and vermouth pairings from Leith Shenstone of spirits and wine importer Fasel Shenstone.
