A Third and Final Incumbent Decides to Defend

Council Member Strauss talking to his parents on a very Ballard street in front of a Ballard coffee shop. “Growing up in the community, I know where we’ve come from, and I have a vision to the horizon to see where can go, and how we grow,” he said. Courtesy of the Campaign

Are there any parts of town left that don't allow duplexes, triplexes and townhouse complexes? It seems like they are being built everywhere except the fou-fou neighborhoods where economics pretty much preclude them.

Also, if we want to increase density, we have to accept the fact that the city needs more employees - people who do the real work of density: Engineers and Journeylevel electrical and water/sewer workers. Not Bright Young Things who think we're all going to ride bikes.

Obviously he's working for the suburban interests, as we need a minimum 65 foot MFH restoration of zoning in all SFH areas, with 40-110 story residential tower zoning within 20 blocks of any light rail or parks.

@4: Or start building residential high-rises on the dozens of vacant lots along MLK, beginning with the ones with two blocks of a light-rail station; no zoning changes required. Why wait?

Yeah, all that would do is just get more housing in Seattle. There’s no class-warfare, “Down with SFH!” vibe, so the Sawantistas here won’t care. (Worse yet, build enough along MLK, and the housing crisis goes away entirely. Then there’s no excuse to upzone SFH at all. Horrors!)

He's got my vote... malaise, ineptitude, half measures and a vote for what's popular at the moment despite the long term implications.

Oh, yes... a front runner on all counts.

Defund the police, rampant crime, no police response (check)

Ballard Commons - over run for a year with homeless, replete with needles and the QFC raid where homeless vagrants ransacked the store and pepper sprayed employees .....and after that, the homeless simply moved from the park to the adjoining neighborhood and Ballard Library ...where the vagrants broke into your cars... and only took a year plus to return to Ballard Commons back to the people.... (check)

The re-occurring homeless camps along Shilshole ... and at Barhdahl's, the homeless camp fire that burnt Albert Lee...and the ever returning RV camp in front of the old Cash & Carry... (check)

Why was there a long, lengthy process in the permit process to begin with? .... not only with low income housing but with all construction of housing.... seems like we need more housing period. Well he did take over a year to think about it... (check)

Yup... he's got my vote....

The takeaway here is: Stranger endorsements suck. When the Stranger says "Vote for A (dumbasseses)," then vote for B. It's simple.

I made a mistake last election, because of what Dan claimed he was going to do and that because he had been working at the council he was ready to hit the ground running. Will I don't know were he was running to but it was not in Seattle or District 6. Ballard Commons, Leary Triangle, 8th Ave, Shilshole Ave, Woodland Park, Green Lake should never had been allowed to go on as they did. The crime wave that is taking over the city, shop lifting, car theft, car break-ins. And then we have Dan S telling us all about what a great job he is doing. And how he is working on getting the Burke Gilman trail missing link completed. I will not make the same mistake this year!
